A paper bulletin, compiled and edited by James Needham, our full-time evangelist, is published weekly by the congregation. This bulletin contains short lessons, and articles, often with an emphasis on current events, which reflect prevailing attitudes toward the Bible, and other spiritual issues in our society.

A Chance Process or a Designing Creator?

One gets quite put out with intelligent people who accept all the absurd theories about how the universe came about. Why is it that men can spin all the fantastic theories about how a chance process created the universe, and even life with all its complexities? Why is it that people will ridicule the idea the universe and life were created by a designing God, but then develop theories that require more faith than believing that a creator God did it?

Following is an excerpt from a book I recently read that exposes the absurdity of the foolish notion that chance process was the creator:

The probability of the universe, the earth and man being just chance occurrences, while taken for granted by the secular fundamentalist, is an emotional belief not based on objective, dispassionate reason. British astronomer Fred Hoyle confirmed this a few years ago in an address to the British Royal Astronomical Society. He claimed that, in light of current discoveries in biology and astrophysics, to believe that the universe, the earth and man all happened by chance is like suggesting that a monster tornado could go through a huge junkyard and come out the other side with a fully formed 77 airplane. The law of probability suggests that there is only one chance in 10 to the 45th power (10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) that the universe could have come into existence with the necessary timing, structure and composition to allow the development of the Earth and man. (Murk, Jim. Islam Rising, p. 34)

As seen, this was written by a former atheist. Anthony Flew, another British atheist, recently admitted that he has been convinced of a creator God due to the discovery of DNA. One of the most popular religious writers of our time is a former atheist. When an honest person meets the truth he either embraces it or he ceases to be an honest person.
